Tornado Devastates Weld County, Colorado

Please pray for the residents of Windsor, Colorado. Around 11:30 this morning, a tornado (an F2-F3 on the Fujita scale) touched down. Governor Ritter is declaring this county a state of emergency.

In this small town of 15,000, nearly 150 homes were destroyed. The funnel measured ¼ mile or ½ mile wide. With such devastation, I’m amazed that only 100 were injured and one life lost. It’s unclear when XCel will be able to restore power to the area.

One man reported that when he came up from the basement, half the house was gone and a Bible fluttered in the wind where the living room used to be. Golf ball and baseball size hail damaged countless roofs and vehicles.

Unfortunately, Windsor wasn’t the only town hit. Much of Weld County suffered damage.

  1. I’m so sorry. Tornadoes all over this spring. It seems to be worse than ever. Praise God for all the spared lives.

  2. Living in Oklahoma, I know personally the devastation and destruction that a tornado leaves in its wake. I wondered if there are any sort of sirens to warn of coming storms? In OK there are sirens every block or two. I can hear 10 or more, every Saturday when they are tested at noon.I pray that the county, the whole affected area, is quickly repaired. I pray peace to the families that lost loved ones, and I pray a great outpouring of charity from those more fortunate.

  3. Oh my goodness, this is such sad news. I pray that God will be with all the people. There are so many sad things happening right now. I pray for God’s peace and comfort to all the people involved. God bless you, Sharon
